Phuket is a superb beach holiday location. The majority of quality rental accommodation is close to the popular beaches on the west and south coast. We’ve listed the most popular beaches with the best accommodation but, during your stay, be sure to seek out some of the smaller beaches, such as Banana Rock as well as Emerald, Paradise and Friendship beaches. In Phuket, you can still find beaches where you don’t need to share the beach with anyone else.
From November to April, the sea is flat, calm and clear. From May to October, there can be some small waves and occasionally rougher seas which draw out the local surfers. Phuket operates a red flag warning system but don’t rely on this. Beware of dangerous rip tides and, of course, if in doubt do not enter the water. Over the last few years, there has been an increase in jet skis for hire – beware of being stung for unreasonable charges and, more importantly, make sure you swim where there aren’t any jet skis.
